Chasing Fall.....Part 2

Over the last several years, my beautiful bride and I have been escaping to Sedona for a few days over the Halloween holiday. With our daughter now grown and living her own life, we’ve struggled getting into the Halloween spirit….so we leave town. Specifically, we head to Sedona, AZ.

Sedona is one of our favorite places, and there really isn’t a better time of year in my opinion, to visit Sedona; fall colors are usually at or near peak around Red Rock Crossing and Oak Creek Canyon, and temperatures are quite pleasant…not the blistering summer heat.

There are dozens and dozens of trails around Sedona, and beauty abounds everywhere. Not to mention that everywhere you look, the uniqueness and beauty of Red Rock Country.

One of the more popular trails in Sedona is along the West Fork of Oak Creek, known as the West Fork Trail. This 3.5 mile trail in, along the West Fork this time of year, is lined with picturesque red rock cliffs and colors that represent Fall. For this reason, this is one of favorite areas, and where I planned my post-Halloween hike.

I met up with a friend, a fellow photographer I had recently met and lives in Sedona, in search of signs of Fall around Sedona. We arrived early to the West Fork Park site, which really is necessary given its popularity. The following images were captured that day.

Follow the Fall Color road….(I guess Dorothy had other ideas in mind…..)
