Northern Light Magic
To witness and photograph the Aurora Borealus (aka Northern Lights) has been on my bucket list for some time. Earlier this month I had an opportunity to travel to Fairbanks, AK - known as one of the better locations to photograph the Aurora in North America due its Dark Skies classification - to witness this phenomenon.
Unfortunately between low Aurora activity forecast, less than ideal weather conditions and the deteriorating conditions associated with the Covid-19 Pandemic, our opportunity to experience the Northern Lights was shrinking. As luck would have it (or my prayers having been answered), on our last night to photograph, Aurora activity .suddenly increased, and skies began to clear. These images were captured on the last night. While the Aurora was considered relatively weak, this was exciting none the less.
Once this world returns to some semblance of normalcy, I will be returning to experience more of what the Aurora Borealous is.
